World Book Day 2016

Thursday 3rd March marked World Book Day 2016 which was celebrated with lots of enthusiasm by the children and staff at King Athelstan.

The children were split into mixed year groups for the day and had the opportunity to participate in four separate activities. These ranged from making Roald Dahl "dream catchers"; making cartoon strips around "scary" stories; to making their own hats from the story ‘I Want My Hat Back' by John Klassen and making string spider webs based on the book 'Aaaargh Spider' by Lydia Monks.

The day was full of exciting activities and was finished with an assembly on the “Power of Reading” and a certificate ceremony for “Best Homemade Costume” and "Best Effort in Activity" for each year group.

Some of the fantastic costumes can be seen in the photo gallery below and we are already looking forward to the next World Book Day.

I love World Book Day because I feel like a real superhero!” - Year 1 pupil
