King Athelstan has a large hall where all the children are invited to eat their lunch. Children can bring a packed lunch from home or enjoy a healthy, freshly made hot meal, prepared in our own kitchens by our catering team WilsonJones. We are a no nut and a pork-free school. Please note, other meat options are not halal.
"We are an independent catering company based in Surrey who specialise in catering for the education sector. Our "Simply Fresh" mantra sums up everything about our company.
We have a very simple philosophy: Fresh food, well prepared, & served with a smile."
Please see the latest menu below. You should book meals from this menu on ParentPay, and can book weeks ahead.
All children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 are entitled to universal free school meals automatically. Currently, Year 3 to 6 children also receive free school lunches (until at least July 2026) as part of the London Mayor's initiative. Although all school lunches are free (for this year) parents/carers still need to book and select the lunch each day from the menu choice.

We also have special menus from time to time. For example, Sports Day picnic lunch, Christmas Lunch with all the trimmings, World Book Day or Chinese New Year special menu.
Following on from feedback from the school community we now have a Halal meat option once a week on Tuesday. This is denoted by a (H) on the menu. Halal refers to food that is prepared in accordance with Islamic dietary guidelines. In the UK, halal-certified meat must meet both food safety regulations and halal requirements. Please be reassured that all the halal meat supplied to the school will have been through a process where the animals are stunned. This fully complies with UK animal welfare standards while also meeting halal certification requirements. Our approach is intended to be inclusive of pupils’ different dietary needs and respectful of faith practices, while also upholding animal welfare standards.
