Humanities Subjects

The humanities curriculum at King Athelstan helps children to explore what is to be human. It supports children to understand how different people live, think and interact in diverse societies, cultures and environments, in terms of time, place and belief. These subjects have distinctive and valuable concepts that help our children be respectful, happy and ambitious citizens, with a thirst for knowledge and a drive to learn new skills beyond their own door step.

Our approach is cross-curricular which ensures subjects are linked with purpose. For example, when Year 3 learn about Africa, in geography they learn about the geographical features and different countries, then in history they explore the changes that have happened through time.
