After School Club

After School Club At King Athlestan Primary School - YMCA St Paul's Group (

The Ofsted-registered King Athlestan After School Club runs on site at the King Athelstan Centre, located at the back of the school (access via the school car park).

We spend the afternoon having lots of fun and most importantly, playing! We offer opportunities for children to participate in adult-led activities such as group games and risky play, but also the choice to engage in freely chosen and self-directed play. This gives the children the opportunity to develop their imagination and creativity skills. The children are also part of the planning and make suggestions for the daily snack. Fresh fruit is available throughout the afternoon.

“It’s really cool! The staff are really fun and funny and play with us lots. We get to make some awesome things!” – Bailey and Tianna, children at After School Club.

Facilities available:

During after school club hours we have sole use of a ‘chill out’ room for those quieter moments, a main activity room and direct access to a huge playground with sports equipment and a climbing frame.

Children are collected from their class by the After School Club staff and the YMCA will care for them until 6.00pm.The charge is £11.50 per child per afternoon.

Typical activities: Messy play, sports, outdoor challenges, cooking, free play. Activites themed around different cultural holidays throughout the year and national events
