As the climax to our exciting topic 'African Adventure' this term, Year 3 celebrated all that they had learnt on Monday.
We started off the day in brightly coloured clothes, wearing head scarves and Maasai Mara style necklaces that we had made in art ,and settled into our Kenyan style classrooms where the tables and chairs had been replaced with benches. A visitor from an African drumming company taught us a drumming routine which we performed for the whole school. We learnt calls and responses that we sung, drummed and chanted!
The day was made even more exciting by the fact that we received photos and letters from our link school, Alara Primary School, in Kenya. We were delighted to read and respond to these. We ended the day with a cake and art sale where we raised £107 for Alara Primary School. This will go towards providing much needed resources for our new friends in Kenya.
Overall it was a fantastic day thoroughly enjoyed by Year 3 children and staff.
