International Day 2016

King Athelstan held their International Day last Friday 10th June.  The diversity that makes this school great was celebrated throughout the day and into the afternoon with the delicious International Marketplace.  Our school is truly global and consists of children from all around the world.  This was reflected in the activities throughout the day which ranged from Indian home cookery to Polish language lessons and Ghanaian art. Hearts were racing during the International games and a special assembly allowed the different groups to share their new found international knowledge.

I love International Day! Everybody is proud to show who they are and we can learn more about people who are different from us.

The school community came together after school to celebrate culinary excellence in the well attended International Marketplace. None of this would have been possible without the generosity of spirit shown by those parents and carers who supported throughout the day and spent their time and energy on providing such wonderful food.  Some of the delicious food that was on show is now contained in our new King Athelstan "International Favourites" cookbook, avalibale to purchase through the PCSA.  You can see a one of the brilliant recipes in the photo gallery below.
