28th June 2016
Dear Parent/Carer
As you may be aware from the media, colleagues in professional associations have been called to take industrial action on Tuesday 5th July.
The action (one day strike) will result in class or whole school closures across the country.
The decision to close the school or send pupils home is never taken lightly, but in this instance, where staff have elected to take lawful industrial action, I will have no choice but to take appropriate steps to ensure the health, safety and well-being of all pupils.
We are aware that class closures inconvenience parents and carers and so I am writing to give you advance notice of the likely impact of the action on this school. If the action goes ahead, the following arrangements will be in place:
The following classes will be closed for the day on Tuesday 5th July 2016:
Classes: Picasso (Y1), Magritte (Y3), Da Vinci (Y6)
The remaining classes will be open as usual and all children in these classes are expected to attend in the usual way.
These classes will remain open on Tuesday 5th July 2016:
Classes Lowry am and pm (Nursery), Cezanne and Rousseau (Reception), Monet (Y1), Matisse (Y2), Hockney (Y2), Dali (Y3), Michelangelo (Y4), Kandinsky (Y4), Van Gogh (Y5), Gainsborough (Y5), O’Keeffe (Y6)
There will be no cricket club on this day but breakfast club and after school club will run as usual.
Please note that all children in O’Keeffe who have attended the PGL residential are expected to attend. We will organise a school-based country dance performance for parents and carers on another day for Magritte Class as they were due to attend the Country Dancing Festival on this day.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Yours sincerely
Emily Newton
