Year 4 Roman Theme Day

Friday 11th March saw Kandinksy and Michelangelo classes transform into a time machine as they undertook a day of living and learning like Romans!

Year 4 had a day of lessons with a Roman theme. The children enjoyed measuring and making Roman bread which was later served as part of a "traditional Roman feast" with warm butter, olives and grapes . In Art the children looked at Roman architecture and in PE they learned Roman marching using rhythm skills.

A visiting workshop took the pupils on an interactive drama based journey through Roman Britain. The pupils had an opportunity to experience a virtual "Roman market place" and "Pantheon" tour. The children also took part in performing alongside the workshop troupe, dressed as Roman characters.

We learned so many interesting facts, including the fact that there were 11,000 men guarding Hadrian's Wall. I enjoyed being dressed up and am proud that all of Year 4 performed together! -Year 4 Pupil

It was an exciting way to celebrate all the learning on the theme Roman Britain which Year 4 children have studied this term and we are looking forward to having more cross curricular theme days throughout the school.

Have a look at some of our costumes in the photo gallery below.
